Bloomfield Township police warn of ‘sextortion’ after victim shares suggestive photos on messaging app Kik



Bloomfield Township police are warning of possible “sextortion” cases after receiving several reports in the past several months.

In the most recent case, a 24-year-old victim had a texting conversation with an unknown person on the messaging app Kik, and posted suggestive photos. The suspect then demanded the victim’s credit card numbers or else the photos would be posted on the victim’s Facebook page.

The victim refused to release the credit card information and contacted police Dec. 9. No arrests have been made.
