Toronto sisters detained in Nigeria for alleged cyber bullying and extortion

Two sisters, who say they are from Toronto, are being detained in Nigeria accused of trying to blackmail an African Billionaire.

Independent online newspaper Politics Nigeria reported on Friday that Jyoti and Kiran Matharoo, who are believed to have Canadian citizenship, made a court appearance on December 23rd facing accusations related to extortion of well known businessman, Femi Otedola.

The news agency claims the two sisters have been blackmailing Nigeria’s rich and famous for years through a website possessing recorded conversations and romps with politicians, club owners and businessmen. It’s alleged the sisters would approach victims through a third party threatening to release the recordings and pictures online unless compensated.
