14 cyber crime cases this year, none cracked

NASHIK: The government is making all efforts to popularise cashless transactions but the police here are struggling to crack the financial frauds and online scams.

The cyber crime department of the city police has registered 14 offences this year. With the exception of two, the remaining 12 are financial frauds made by targeting gullible people, who give away details of their bank or debit cards to a person on the phone call. All the 14 cases are still under investigation nd the police have not made any arrests.

In a case registered in Ambad in January this year, a person was cheated of Rs 92,000 by hackers cracking into his computer. Another person in Upnagar was cheated of Rs 14,000 in November when gave his credit card details to a conman, who claimed to be calling from the ‘rewards’ department of a bank.
