SURREY is one of the UK’s cyber fraud hotspots, with 6,240 crimes reported to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau between June 2016 and July 2017.

It’s according to research by the UK technology retailer, Ebuyer, which analysed data from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) on fraud and computer misuse.

That means five out of every 1,000 people in the area are victims of cyber crimes, compared to four out of every 1,000 people in neighbouring county Hampshire.

This places Surrey sixth in the top 10, with the number one cyber fraud hotspot being Essex.
