Hyderabad: Police arrests man for cyber-stalking girl

A day when Hyderabad was shocked with the incident of a jilted lover and stalker setting ablaze and killing a 25-year-old woman, the Cyberabad Police has arrested a person for cyber-stalking a girl.

The accused identified as 34-year-old Eerapuram Naresh Kumar alias Ravi alias Aravind Boyapati, a native of Mahaboob Nagar district of Telangana, was arrested for creating fake Facebook account and sending abusive messages and threatening the victim on the pretext of marriage.

The accused cyber-stalker was harassing the victim for the past two months by creating a fake Facebook account in her name.

“After victim deleted her Facebook id, the accused started calling her on her mobile phone and asked for marriage. When the girl refused, he started issuing threats to her. He was threatening girl that if she will not marry with him, he will kill her family members.” said a police officer of cybercrime department.

Pune cyber crime cell arrests three men in connection with Rs 1.04 crore Nigerian fraud case

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and cyber cell of Pune crime branch have arrested three persons, including a journalist, in connection with a multi-crore Nigerian fraud case. The suspects arrested have been identified as Ashish Mohiuddin Ashique alias Rajesh Babu Prabhakaran (46), a resident of Telichori, Kerala; Reji Piar alias Kiran Surya Unnikrishnan (36), a resident of Ernakulam in Kerala and Shahul Ahmed Ulla Hameed alias Ravikumar Rajkumar (32), a journalist by profession, from Velachori in Kerala.

The crime branch sleuths have recovered 45 cheque books of different banks, 17 passbooks, 37 debits cards, 9 mobiles, PAN cards, a voters ID card, a press card, cash worth Rs 13.40 lakh and deposits worth Rs 22.10 lakh, aggregating to Rs 35.50 lakh, from their possession. AMSTERDAM/LONDON, Dec 5 (Reuters) – One of Eastern Europe’s
most prolific cyber criminals has been arrested in a joint
operation involving Belarus, Germany and the United States that
aimed to dismantle a vast computer network used to carry out
financial scams, officials said on Tuesday.

National police in Belarus, working with the U.S. Federal
Bureau of Investigation, said they had arrested an unnamed
citizen of Belarus on suspicion of selling malicious software
who they described as administrator of the Andromeda network.

Andromeda can be described as a “botnet”, or group of
computers that have been infected with viruses to allow hackers
to control them remotely without the knowledge of their owners,
enabling them to install crime tools to mount further attacks.

Estonia arrests alleged Russian agent plotting cyber-crime

Estonia said Tuesday it had arrested a suspected Russian spy allegedly plotting a cyber-crime, in the latest incident to strain relations between the small Baltic state and the Kremlin.

The Estonian prosecutor general’s office said the unnamed man was suspected of working for Russia’s FSB Federal Security Service and of planning a cyber attack targeting state institutions.

“Right now we can say without revealing any details that we’ve managed to prevent serious damage,” Inna Ombler, the state prosecutor in charge of the investigation said in a statement.

Ombler added that the suspect’s activities were not connected to an unprecedented electronic ID-card security risk that recently hit the cyber-savvy country.

Dubbed “E-stonia”, the eurozone state of 1.3 million people is regarded as being one of the world’s most wired nations, with its citizens able to use electronic ID cards to access virtually all public services online via its vast “e-government” portal.
