Man indicted for cyber-stalking doctor: Hunting Valley police blotter


 

HUNTING VALLEY, Ohio — Violation of civil stalking protection order, harassing communications, menacing by stalking; Cedar Road: A Beavercreek man, 69, was indicted this month on charges that he continued to harass his former doctor the day after a judge extended a civil stalking protection order for another five years.

A Cuyahoga County Common Pleas judge noted in a Nov. 17 ruling the suspect had made numerous and nearly continuous postings on a variety of websites relating to a surgical procedure performed over a decade ago, and had since become a patient advocate.

NAU professor indicted for stalking student, firefighters

LAGSTAFF (AP) – A Northern Arizona University professor is accused of stalking a student and two firefighters she met online.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that a federal grand jury indicted 36-year-old Melissa Ann Santana this week on five counts of felony stalking.

According to court documents, the married interior design professor started cyber-stalking an NAU student in February 2015 months after they met through Craigslist.

Over the next several months, she met two U.S. Forest Service firefighters through Tinder and sent both harassing messages. She allegedly keyed one of the men’s cars and slashed the tires. She is also accused of harassing their colleague and one of the men’s fiancee through social media.

According to the criminal complaint, the harassing messages to the firefighters ranged from typical – such as, “I miss you so much”– to hostile, with statements such as, “be like the Granite guys and go die in a fire,” referring

Who is Marcus Hutchins, and why is he being indicted in Milwaukee?

British computer whiz and cybersecurity researcher Marcus Hutchins was hailed as a hero in June for preventing the spread of the infamous WannaCry malware.

Last Wednesday, Hutchins was treated more like a villain.

He was arrested in Las Vegas by the FBI for his alleged involvement in creating and distributing a different malware known as Kronos. He will appear in court in Milwaukee on on Aug. 14.

BTC-e indicted for laundering MtGox funds, fined $110 Million

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)  recently announced the indictment of a Russian national and an organization he allegedly operated, the bitcoin exchange BTC-e, for operating an unlicensed money service business, money laundering, and related crimes.

Vinnik was arrested in Greece early on Wednesday, and will face charges in the U.S. The 37-year old allegedly owns and operates multiple accounts tied to the operation of BTC-e, and is also a primary beneficiary of BTC-e’s managing shell company, Canton Business Corporation. Numerous withdrawals from BTC-e administrator accounts went directly to Vinnik’s personal bank accounts, the DOJ claims.

McCullum was indicted on charges of cyber stalking Plaskett after releasing nudes of her and her husband online

Two former staffers have been charged with leaking naked photos and videos of a Virgin Islands’ delegate and her husband online.

Juan McCullum, who was general counsel for the Delegate, Stacey Plaskett, was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of cyber-stalking for stealing nude photos and videos of Plaskett and her husband and leaking them online. 

McCullum previously appeared on the VH1 reality-dating show ‘I Love New York’ under the name ‘Pretty’ and in 2015 was named the fifth hottest person in politics by The Hill.

Plaskett, although not mentioned in the indictment, last year addressed that images of her and her husband Jonathan Buckney-Small were hacked and released. 

McCullum, 35, and the second staffer indicted, Dorene Browne-Louis, worked for the Plaskett during that time frame.
