6 Important Relationship Lessons We Can All Learn from ‘This Is Us’

There are plenty of reasons why NBC’s Emmy Award-winning “This Is Us” has become such a hit. One of the biggest draws arguably being that the cast of characters are so authentic, sitting through an episode feels like a therapy session (without the price tag). Watching each character navigate extremely relatable experiences with family, friends and significant others, it’s easy to see a little bit of ourselves in each one of them.

The show follows the Pearson family across the decades: Through flashbacks we see Jack and Rebecca’s (played by Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore) lives as young parents, and in the present day story-line, we see who their now 37-year-old triplets Kevin, Randall and Kate, also known as the “Big Three,” have grown up to be. The plot covers everything from anxiety to cancer to reconnecting with estranged parents. Suffice it to say, there’s a lesson or two to

Cyber crime vigil: Cos need to roll out security lessons

Hyderabad: Rattled by the current string of cyber attacks, IT experts have now advised companies to enhance their data protection mechanisms to ensure that it does not fall prey to malicious ransomware like Wannacry and Petya.

The first step in protecting a business from malware attacks, they said, was to educate employees as close to 90% of all breaches occur as a result of a worker clicking on an inappropriate website link.

While the awareness level, about ransomware and malware attacks, has gone up among companies in Hyderabad, a lot still needs to be done to ensure that their data is not compromised, said members of the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC).

“Taking the recent string of cyber security attacks into account companies must step up their security systems in addition to educating their employees about cyber threats. Many

Five Lessons from the Hansa and AlphaBay Busts

PHOTO CREDIT: Bastiaan Slabbers/NurPhoto/Sipa/NewscomIt’s been less than a week since a coalition of international law enforcement groups announced the successful takedown of the dark web’s two largest drug markets, Hansa and AlphaBay.

We won’t know for months—maybe longer—how many vendors and buyers around the globe will be raided, arrested, and incarcerated. We don’t know—and might never know—if the Justice Department built its case using parallel construction, a method by which law enforcement agencies “recreate the investigative trail to effectively cover up where the information originated.” We also don’t know what other markets have been compromised.

All we know is that the Dutch National Police

6 lessons ‘Ghost in the Shell’ can teach you about cybersecurity

Anime cult classic ‘Ghost in the Shell’ has been remade into a live action sci-fi thriller. (Photo via Facebook / GhostInTheShell)

The original Ghost in the Shell (GitS) movie was practically compulsory material in the hacker subculture of the late 90s, early 2000s. The original touched on themes that all geeks can appreciate, including robotics, sentient AI, human augmentation, active (“thermal-optic”) camouflage, transferring human consciousness to a machine, and more. The main protagonist was a hacker called the Puppet Master, and the idea of hacking technically augmented humans was ahead its time (the Internet of Things wasn’t even a “thing” then). This is probably why GitS imagery and themes have been iconic in hacker culture (like this GitS-ish t-shirt).

As a fan of the complete Ghost in the Shell franchise (manga, TV shows, sequels), I was excited for
